Public Art Projects
1999 Public art
piece for Jose Avenue Park in Live Oak, Santa Cruz County. Sponsored by the
County of Santa Cruz Department of Parks, Open Spaces, and Cultural
Services. “The Great Blue Heron Walkway”, two large six foot tall blue
herons created by artist team, Sandra Whiting and Barbara Abbott, in
collaboration with the community. The blue herons are constructed of steel
and cement with mosaic covering the bodies. All the pieces (plates, cups,
dog tags, jewelry, salt and pepper shakers, etc.) were donated by the
neighborhood.
1999 Design Capitola
Wharf Portal Gate accepted by the Capitola Arts Commission and the City of
Capitola. Competition open to all California artists. Construction of the
gate was completed December 2002.
